INDY 500 WEEKEND

I don't usually blog but I'll make an exception this time as it's
the best way to get both pics and videos online.

The first half of the pics are decent but not great.  Somehow my resolution got set on a low setting.  I noticed it and corrected it a few minutes after the start of the race.

JDuke, Jay, Jackson and I headed up towards Indianapolis last Saturday to attend the 500 on Sunday. Having stopped at a Bojo's in Mt Airy for breakfast and other needs and shortly thereafter being banned from any other Bojangles for the rest of our lives, we decided on lunch at Hillbilly Hotdogs in Huntington, WV.

Guy Fieri has been there before for one of his shows...

And even gave Jimmy Fallon a "Homewrecker" on the Tonight Show on May 7th....

...on past Charleston, WV and bypassing Dayton, OH...

...we headed on to Richmond, IN to spend the night.  Richmond is about an hour and twenty minutes from the racetrack.   Our first stop after the hotel was to go to a White Castle across the street before dinner.  My first White Castle burger that didn't come out of the frozen food section in the grocery...

...left for Indianapolis around six the next morning and arrived just before 7:30...

...and made our way towards the track...

...it was almost a State Fair atmosphere with people and food everywhere...

...we found our parking area....

....and found we weren't the first ones to arrive.
A lot of folks had camped overnight in the parking lot....

....and took advantage of what was available...

...John handed out tickets...

...and we headed on over to the track and to the infield...

...no cooler?...no problem...

...various pics from the infield and on the track...

...and the...

...and then worked our way back towards our seats...

...it's a Riley thing...they become dangerous when they get near a smoked turkey leg...

...or any other kind of leg....

...adding her own little bit of class to the day's festivities...

...finally in our seats around 10:30 and Jim Nabors is giving an interview...

....some of the antique race cars being driven by some all-time greats...

...Leann Rimes sings the National Anthem complete with a flyover...

..."Start Your Engines"...

...Jim Nabors (Legendary TV Star) sings "Back Home Again in Indiana" one last time...

...and the tension mounts...

...pace cars and the field...

 ....and let the race begin...

....racing...

...crashing...

...blurring...

...for some reason John wanted me take a pic of this young lady...something to do with
what she had hanging around her neck...

...another little cleanup...

...leading the race...

...the last lap...

...and we have a winner...

...John spotted this on the way back to the car as we walked through the camping
jungle and immediately ordered one to be shipped back home...

...we headed home on Monday...

...I had tunnel vision...

...good to see this sign.

...and finally back home.  Fun trip. Hard to imagine four guys laughing continually
for three days but we did.  Thanks for the idea to go John.
